GORUCK is coming out with a new load-carrying item – the Brick Bag.
Here’s the catch – if you want one, you have to pre-order now.
If you participate in a GORUCK Challenge, you probably bring bricks to stuff in your ruck. But bricks are extremely rough that they cut holes even in the Cordura. Holes still happen no matter how many layers of fabric or no matter how firmly packed the bricks are. So Brick Bag is not really a brick bag but a stuff sack used every day.
Here are some of the styles we are going to look at:
GORUCK Brick Bag – Overview
GORUCK always takes inspiration from military gear, and Brick Bag is not an exemption. As mentioned earlier, it is not literally a brick bag but a stuff sack that you can use daily. You can use it to separate dirty clothes from the other stuff you have in your GR1.
You can also use it to wrap your camera in a towel and stuff it in the brick bag. Brick Bag also can become a compression stuff sack. It is used at the GORUCK Challenge to ensure that the functionality and structure are reliable.
GORUCK Brick Bag
The initial purpose of the Brick Bag was as a carrying bag for the gear you would need in case of a biochemical attack, and it had to be with you all the time. Then it was used as a stuff sack, and eventually, the excess was trimmed down to form this Brick Bag. The top closure is lined with a row of military-grade Webbing and a layer of hard plastic on the interior for added rigidity when rolling down.
The attachment buckles strap into the MOLLE webbing at the bag base and match the closure buckles at the top for compression. The ballistic bottom presents extra abrasion resistance, while a row of MOLLE around the bottom is placed for versatility. There is a male and female buckle on either side of the Webbing to close the bag, plus a 2”x”3 Velcro Patch Panel.
Tactical FP1
The Tactical FP1 uses 210D Cordura, which is the very fabric GORUCK uses on the back panel of the Rucker 3.0. It has a padded, buffalo fuzz-lined compartment that enables you to bring a pistol or other weapon boldly. The FP1 has a small, padded zip pocket lined with loop Velcro that sits against your body and matches a Glock 43.
The 2” adjustable Webbing goes around your hips with buckle closure, and the 2”x3” Patch Panel on the front can be customized with the patch of your choice. It uses YKK zippers with silent, glove-friendly zipper pulls built from a parachute 550 cord.
